BeerStein.net is the leading source of information about collector beer steins on the
internet. For the first several years of its life BeerStein.net was a free resource,
but the founder decided that the information was too valuable to give away. He wanted
members to have to pay an annual fee for the service, similar to a magazine subscription.

The founder of BeerStein.net contacted TechMethods for advice concerning on-line payment
collection methods. TechMethods suggested using an existing internet based payment
processor (VeriSign - formerly CyberCash) to handle credit card transactions.
TechMethods e-commerce enabled BeerStein.net, allowing members to submit credit card payment through
a secure on-line payment system that automatically updated BeerStein's user database.
TechMethods also created a authentication scheme that checks to see if users have
paid for their subscription when they log into the site. The website was then reorganized
into different sections - some strictly for paying customers, while others are available to
anyone. BeerStein.net immediately started generating revenue as a result of the work
done by TechMethods.
