| YourCongress.com wanted to build a dynamic web publishing system that would control the content of their site. The system had to be flexible enough that multiple users, from anywhere, could update the site any time of day. YourCongress.com also needed a custom application to send email messages with personalized links of content that changed on a daily basis to thousands of customers, fifteen to twenty times a month. Finally, YourCongress wished to add an on-line store where visitors would be able to purchase politically oriented products. |

TechMethods, LLC built a web-based, database-driven publishing system with a password
protected administrative interface that allows writers to update the site immediately.
YourCongress.com's numerous content providers can
access the administrative site from anywhere, exchange messages, and instantly publish
their new material without a cumbersome - and inefficient - technical middleman.
A custom mailing system, based on modified MailBlast code,
was created by TechMethods that serves as the engine of YourCongress.com's powerful
Congress.Watch
congressional tracking service. The system catalogs and stores the entire Congressional
Record and then sends a customized e-mail to each of the Congress.Watch members based on
their zipcode.
An on-line store was created that allows the YourCongress staff to easily update inventory
in real time. Enabling the site for e-commerce increased revenue by allowing users to
purchase items on a secure server directly from YourCongress.
The easy navigation and well-designed layout of the site, combined with YourCongress.com's
irreverent and informative content, has earned praise from industry giants such as Yahoo!,
Netscape, About.com, and hundreds of print publications. The technology built by
TechMethods, LLC
earned YourCongress.com a prestigious Webby
Award in 2001 and was named "one of the ideas that make the most of online time," by
Smart Computing Magazine.
